Response Paper to: Islam, Science and Islamic Science (Academic Study of Religion)

       The integration of Science and Islam is possible because both of them have similar view on the importance of knowledge for human.  The integration is how to make and understand that Science and Islam connected each other appropriately. Normatively, Islam, by God’s commands on Qur’an always encourages Muslims to reach and find the secret and knowledge behind the nature and their life. Science empirically is the human way to get the best thing for managing and solving their problem by improving and accumulating their knowledge using scientific methods.

Islam gives the high attention to knowledge. In Qur’an, no verse forbids us to reach and get it. For instance, God, like He says in Qur’an, commands us to know the secrets behind this universe about the happening of Earth, Sky, Sun, Moon and the other phenomena (Jonas : 5-6) . Besides that, our prophet Muhammad also obliges us to study forever along our life (His saying or Hadits). There is no doubt that Islam always supports and encourages Muslim to get knowledge forever.

Science is practically one of the manifestations of knowledge. Science is built to find the answer of the secrets of human life by its own methods, called scientific method. Human creates all of the things they need in this life using Science empirically. For instance, They creates machines to help their daily activity easier and faster.  Because of that, human can get the best improvement and build a new civilization based on the mastering of knowledge.

Therefore, the integration of Islam and Science is possible because both of them always emphasizing the importance of knowledge for human life. Islam and Science can walk together to bring a human to get their glory.
